Ah, so that's the term – "managing up"!
For ages, I've been guiding clients on navigating the delicate dance of managing up successfully with their bosses.
The funny thing is, I didn't even know there was a label for it: managing up.
It felt odd helping someone work powerfully with their manager, especially since I had no personal knowledge of their boss – not even a face to put to the name.
Perhaps, I used to naively assume everyone had a harmonious relationship with their boss. Well, life taught me otherwise (especially when I had my own experience in managing up poorly).
What I've uncovered is this:
As my clients enhance their self-relationship, growing into the leaders they aspire to be, their connection with their manager organically improves.
Remarkably, I achieved this without knowing their managers personally, showing that positive influence transcends direct interactions.
Curious to know the impact?
Here's a snippet from one of my client's:
"I have become more patient, I don't jump to conclusions anymore, I don't seem to get angry or ticked off easily anymore…I just trust myself that in the long run, I will be happy no matter what happens. I know I have the skills and the capabilities to be happy no matter the outcome."
Isn't that what it's all about – sculpting a life filled with joy and contentment? Doesn't our pursuit of happiness shape most decisions we make?
Happiness awaits, and it doesn't hinge on distractions, forcefully bulldozing through obstacles, or sitting back in the shadows hoping it'll come.
The linchpin for effectively managing up?
It's you!!!!
Yet, it asks you to be the leader you've been waiting for.
Commit to being the change you wish to see in the world.
